Beyond that, try thinking about ways to give text emphasis or contrast or visual space.

Keep this in MIND:

CSS gives you ways to make large areas of text more reader friendly. Or, perhaps that should be scanner friendly. Most users don’t read – they scan and they are almost in a hurry!

Readability and appearance are affected by line length, line height, white space, font choice and other formatting.

CSS also is useful for grouping material into organized content blocks that can be given semantic and visual distinction to make the text easier to read and use.

To markup this TEXT, at the minimum:

• You need to have xhtml page building elements such as doctype, title, html, body etc. (yes, you can use Dreamweaver to get your basic skeleton).


• Logical formatting of headings and paragraphs is needed.


• Minimal CSS rules should style body, headings, paragraphs, and blockquote and any other elements used.


• Hey, don’t forget to play around with background-color, background-images and adding borders, padding and margins.


• Extra Credit--Create and use an image that fades into the background. You can use the image as a background-image for any element, including the body, but it can work especially well in one or more of your headings. There is a short and excellent tutorial here!
