Leader and Professional 

First Placement Evidence

Description and Rationale:  

The piece of evidence that I chose from my first assignment to show my growth as a Leader and Professional was the professional development workshop that I attended in my first week of student teaching. This workshop was about poverty in schools. I learned so much about the behaviors of children based on their economic situations. It was very interesting and it truly helped me when I began teaching. I understood why certain students behaved in the ways that did. I felt enlightened and knew that this professional development had definitely helped me to become a Leader and Professional.

Reflection:

When I think about what I learned at this workshop, I realize that it honestly helped me with behavior management in many situations. I was able to create an environment for students, based on what I had learned, that was comfortable for them and provided them with the best learning environment possible for each of their individual situations. I realized, after this workshop, that in order to be a Leader and Professional, I must continue learning more and more about developmental ideas whether is be poverty in schools or another subject. I feel that thia workshop helped me develop as a Leader and Professional.

Second Placement Evidence

Description and Rationale:  

The piece of evidence I have chosen to show myself as a Leader and Professional from my second placement is from the Kindergarten PTA Program performance. This fell within my weeks of full time teaching, so I was able to lead the students and collaborate with other teachers to practice, prepare, and perform the program. This was a wonderful experience, and I was able to be a Leader and Professional through meeting parents, collabortating with other grade level teachers, and create a program that students were able to perform to show the knowledge that they were gaining as Kindergarteners.

Reflection:

Thinking back on this program, I realized I learned a great deal about being a leader through leading my students and also a professional through collaborating with other teachers and communicating with parents. I believe that as I have more interactions and opportunties such as this, I will grow even more as a Leader and Professional. I believe that through this opportunity I was able to learn and grow to the best of my ability to become an effective and strong Leader and Professional.
